Relaxed and Easy-going, Fun-loving and Enthusiastic
The most noticeable aspects of Stuart's personality.
A chilled Stu Chilled
Very few people watching Big Brother 5, would have failed to recognise the "chilled" nature of Stuart.

He tried to appear arrogant in order to get through the auditions, but his delivery was most "un-arrogant" - even needing to read from a script.   In the house Stuart constantly came across as one of the least arrogant housemates.
Stu with make-up AND a beard Confident
He is, however, very confident in himself, and doesn't seem to worry too much about society's conventions - he's as happy experimenting with traditionally "girly" things like make-up, as he is about seeing whether he likes having a beard.
Romantic
As well as his relationship with Michelle, we know he's romantic from the story his sister told: about him running for miles to deliver flowers to a girlfriend, before they were to be separated by a holiday.
Stu & Michelle in an embrace.

On matters he has strong feelings about, he is quite tenacious, and doesn't give in easily.

Stu accepts everyone as they are, he doesn't seem to have any real prejudices.
He did say in his pre-entry interview, though, that he gets annoyed with people
"who are unnecessarily nasty, people who will pick out negative aspects of anything or anyone".

In the same interview, he wished everyone who knows him; "Freedom, love, peace and prosperity."

But when things do go a bit too far...
It seems that there are very few things which upset Stu.
But when something does bother him, he lets it be known in a quiet, measured and reasoned way.
Stu wakes with a worried look When Big Brother used the "crying baby alarm" he voiced his concern and disapproval. Stu does some 'straight-talking' to Marco When Marco thought that Stu had nominated him, Stu quietly and firmly tried to put the record straight.
When Michelle snapped at him over breakfast ("Chain Gang" task) he quietly asked for an explanation.

And when it was inappropriate for him and Michelle to be Big Brother's "Bride and Groom", he made his feelings on the matter very clear.

All in his very quiet and laid-back, non-confrontational manner.

Possible influences
The effect of external influences on a person's character is anybody's guess,
but in Stu's case possible contributing factors include:-
Family Dynamics:supportive parents, both working in education;
younger brother and sisters;
the sisters being older than the brother.
Educational Environment:disciplined, encouraging, forward-looking, rounded.
Friends:long-term, similarly-minded.
